Studying Again

I am getting back to some oil painting. I did this study of a Queen of the Night flower. It is a beautiful white and yellow flower. I drew this from a photo my brother took of one near his place in Ecuador. It blooms only at night, and for only one night, although the plant can have multiple blooms on multiple nights. This drawing was done first in pencil and then in pen using a Uniball fine tip pen. Next, I will paint it in color with oils on a small 5X7 canvas.

I left the fruit fly out.

This took me two weeks. I tried some Liquitex Cobalt Siccative (drier) with the oil paints and found that it works really well. The oils dry almost completely overnight.
